Welcome to St Peters Preschool

A Window Of Opportunity For Every Child

Acknowledgement to country

Here is the land, here is the sky, here are my friends and here am I.

We thank the Anaiwan people for the land on which we learn and play.

Hands up, hands down, we’re on Anaiwan ground.

About Our Preschool

St Peters Preschool has been a cherished part of the community since 1952, when it first opened in a local church hall in Armidale. In 1982, the preschool moved to its current location, thanks to the support of the Board of Management at the time.

Today, St Peters Preschool welcomes children ages three to five, offering a warm and supportive space for early learning and play. Our preschool features a spacious, green playground where children can safely explore, imagine, and learn. As a not-for-profit community preschool, St Peters is managed by a board elected by parents each year, keeping our focus on what’s best for children and families.

At St Peters Preschool, we believe that every child deserves access to inclusive, high-quality early childhood education. We strive to create a place where each child feels a strong sense of belonging, which we know is the foundation for lifelong learning. Our play-based approach makes learning fun, as we fill our environment with natural, open-ended resources to inspire curiosity and creativity.

Licensed by the New South Wales Department of Education and Training, St Peters Preschool receives funding to help keep fees affordable. We exceed the standard teacher-to-child ratio, often maintaining a 1:8 or even 1:6 ratio, ensuring that each child gets individual attention daily.

Since our beginnings, St Peters Preschool has grown into a place rich with resources for play and learning, helping young children thrive in a joyful, nurturing environment.

Our Philosophy

At St Peters Preschool we believe that every child deserves a welcoming, high-quality early education, where they feel they truly belong and can grow through play, exploration, and self-discovery. Each child’s unique strengths and interests are celebrated, and we honour the diverse cultures and families that shape who they are. The families of our preschoolers are incredibly valued and they contribute to a strong, supportive community. As educators, we are dedicated to creating a safe, caring space where children are respected, encouraged to make decisions, and supported in every step of their learning. Our curriculum focuses on holistic, child-led learning and fosters a love of nature, curiosity, and care for the environment. Together, we’re building a foundation for children’s bright futures.
